Oil & Gas

Oil and gas expertise, from the wellhead to the business behind it.

Through Crawford County Oil, our Illinois Basin operating company, we bring hands-on experience across the full lifecycle of oil and gas operations — drilling, production, facilities, gas gathering and treatment, regulatory and environmental requirements, permitting, field operations, vendor management, commercial strategy, and the back-office functions required to run an energy business. We lead projects from concept through execution, including wells, production facilities, gas infrastructure, power generation, and on-site compute applications where energy and infrastructure converge.

Six Sigma in practice · Crawford County Oil

Cutting well failures by more than 92 percent

Crawford County Oil operates a century-old stripper field of more than 2,000 wells, acquired out of bankruptcy with a failure rate of 2.2 failures per well per year, among the highest in the region and far above the industry benchmark of 0.4. Like every process at Crawford County Oil, well management was rebuilt using Six Sigma.

D
Define Reduce well failures and the lifting costs they drive across the entire field.
M
Measure Every failure tracked by well, lease, and cause in a purpose-built well management system.
A
Analyze Pareto analysis traced the drivers to process variance: operators managed wells in different ways.
I
Improve The right way to manage each stage of a well's lifecycle was defined, documented, and trained to every person.
C
Control Measurement systems, weekly KPI reviews, and audits verify the process is followed and the gains hold.
The result
2.2Failures per well per year at acquisition
<0.17Failures per well per year today
0.4Industry benchmark

“The failure rate dropped not because the wells changed, but because the process around them did.”

Insight

Monetizing stranded gas

Gas without pipeline takeaway is often flared, vented, or shut in, creating regulatory exposure and constraining the drilling program. We identify the root cause, evaluate three commercial paths, and lead execution of the most viable option:

Proven at

Crawford County Oil

An independent oil producer in the Illinois Basin. Every process at Crawford County Oil was built using Six Sigma, the same approach we bring to clients.

Stranded gas: one question, three answers.

The same method, applied to gas with no route to market. We work back to a single root-cause question, then price out the three answers that actually pay.

Federal Quad O and state regulatory exposure

A drilling program that keeps shrinking

Gas with no home

Flare it, vent it, or shut the well in. None of those pay.

The root-cause question What do we do with the gas?

Clean it and sell it

To a buyer other than a pipeline.

Generate power and sell it

Through a grid interconnect, or to an on-site host.

Generate power and use it

An on-site data center, hosting compute or owning it.

The same approach applies to coal bed methane, stranded wind, and other resources with no route to market.

Four ways in

Work with us however fits your operation

01

Let us help

Straight consulting on one thing — a workover plan, a permitting package, an AFE that needs a second set of eyes. No commitment beyond the engagement.

02

Let us build it

We build the process or system — a chemical program, a lease-record clean-up, a stranded-gas commercial plan — teaching your team how to build the Six Sigma processes underneath it, and hand it back to run.

03

Let us run it

We operate the function for you on an ongoing basis — land and revenue administration, route optimization, or field operations — run day to day by our people, on Six Sigma processes we build and maintain.

04

Let's team up and integrate

The deepest tier: running alongside your team on the same operating system and Six Sigma discipline — your people building the processes where they're ready to, ours building them where they're not — the way we run Crawford County Oil today.

Any of these four can also include implementing BOS and Six Sigma across the rest of the operation, if you want it. That is a separate decision from which tier fits the work in front of you today.
